My husband and I recently went to Gold Class Cinemas on a friend’s recommendation.

“It’s the best,” they said, “You’ll never go to another theater again!”

My husband was NOT convinced! A pessimist on a good day, the man does not like to be uncomfortable, sit near someone loud or have his movie experience otherwise interrupted. I wasn’t sure if he’d go for the price, either, but we received a pair of passes as a gift so we gave it a shot.

We both had a great time! My husband, the naysayer, drank his favorite microbrew while watching a great 3-D movie in complete comfort. He even kicked off his shoes! The seats are lush, nicely spaced and recline so perfectly it was just like being at home – only with a full-sized movie screen and Dolby Surround Sound.

Not to mention the wait staff…what?

Yep. Push a button on the center console and you can have any one of a variety of things hand-delivered to you while the movie is showing – a pillow, comfy blanket, or choose from an assortment of gourmet food or dessert offerings. Forget popcorn and a soda. I’ll have Asian chicken lettuce wraps and a French martini for my movie viewing please!!

After the movie, we stayed for another drink and the beignet sampler. Yum! The lounge area is so cool, I felt like we were downtown except that parking was free and it was a quick drive home without any traffic.

The value was tremendous. So much so that Mr. “wait ‘til it comes out on video” said he’ll never watch a movie another way again! Since then, we check the web site (goldclasscinemas.com) every Thursday to see what the new movies are for the week and line up our babysitters accordingly. We’ve found it to be a great place to meet up with friends or to have a date-night to ourselves.

I can’t wait for “Sex & The City 2”. It’s the first time my husband doesn’t want to go to Gold Class. It’s going to be a girls’ night out and he couldn’t be happier – for both of us!
