Originally created as a day to remember soldiers lost during the Civil War, Memorial Day has become a nation-wide tradition to honor all the men and women who have died while serving in the military. In addition to parades, you can expect to see events organized all over the country featuring military veterans along with family and friends!
On Saturday, May 29th, the Arboretum of South Barrington is holding a very special block party to honor all our nation’s military men and women, featuring a 5K Walk/Run “Miles for the Military” benefiting The Heart of a Marine Foundation!
In addition, you can find activities for the whole family with face painting, comedians, jugglers, stilt walkers, balloon artists, rides, kids games, fresh BBQ, drinks, and a very special salute to the armed forces!
The activities start at 9:00AM and run all day with something for everyone – all leading up to the main music performers starting at 4:00PM with The Northwoods and Michael McDermott at 6:00PM on the main stage, with a very special performance by 10,000 Maniacs at 8:30PM.!
