NEWS RELEASE

The Arboretum of South Barrington to Welcome Opening of Kriser’s Feeding Pets for Life, Nov. 15–16

SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. (October 30, 2008) – After a three-day grand opening that drew more than 100,000 people and contributed $100,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, The Arboretum of South Barrington is poised to welcome new retailers opening in November, among them Kriser’s Feeding Pets for Life opening Nov. 15, the same day that The Arboretum will hold its tree lighting ceremony. Michael Jaffe of The Jaffe Companies, the owner/developer of the 600,000 square-foot retail town center, says that additional retailers will be opening throughout the remaining months of 2008, and into early 2009.

“We’re really pleased with the way the community has reacted to the tenants we’ve brought in,” says Mr. Jaffe. “Many of the stores reported terrific sales during the September grand opening, in some cases exceeding national records. Kriser’s will add to the excitement here and to the unique experience we set out to provide our customer base.”

KRISER’S FEEDING PETS FOR LIFE: The grand opening of Kriser’s Feeding Pets for Life will be held Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 15-16. The regional independent retailer, which has a huge Chicago following, provides quality, all-natural pet foods and products, even organic pet toys. According to Chicago-based owner Brad Kriser, this will be the sixth store for the company, the other five located in Chicago (3 stores), Wilmette, and Park Ridge. Store hours will be 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. daily, open until 6:00 p.m. on weekends. On the grand opening weekend, hours will extend to 8:00 p.m.

“We’ll have all kinds of specials during the opening weekend,” he says. “There will be many food value specials, 4-toys-for-$5 specials, 25% off all collars and leashes, specials on ID tags for dogs and cats, $10 off grooming, free nutritional consultations, and big discounts in selected products like dog food, and World’s Best Kitty Litter.” He says you don’t need coupons for the grand opening offers, just show up. “And everyone is more than welcome to bring their pets,” he says.

The 2,000-square-foot store is designed with a retail area in front and a grooming area in back that is visible at all times. “We designed the whole store to be warm and friendly – different from what most pet owners are used to,” says Mr. Kriser. “The colors have an organic feel, and the space is shopper friendly, easy to get around.” He says the staff is also one of the store’s highlights. “They love what they do,” he says. “They like helping people get the best for their pets.”
The Highland Park resident says he chose The Arboretum as a site for Kriser’s because of the high quality retail mix, which complements the caliber of what his store offers. “We are excited about entering a community that will enjoy our quality products and services,” he says. After South Barrington, he plans to continue the expansion of Kriser’s by opening another four stores in the next six months.

The Arboretum of South Barrington is a 600,000 square-foot retail town center in Chicago’s affluent northwest suburbs that opened in September 2008. An upscale mix of fashion apparel brands, home furnishings, restaurants and other retailers will occupy spaces set amidst fountains, pathways and plazas  -- all less than a mile from the four-way interchange at I-90 (the region’s major transportation artery), at the highly coveted intersection of Illinois Routes 59 and 72. The center is a joint venture between The Jaffe Companies in Northbrook, Ill., and RREEF Alternative Investments, based in New York.
