SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. (March 19, 2009) – An evening of giveaways, fashion, free food and wine, retail bargains and more will be held during The Arboretum of South Barrington’s Economic Stimulus Package “Shop and Give Me 20” on Wednesday, March 25, 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. “The event is designed to offer a fun shopping experience that is both novel and affordable,” says Michael Jaffe, developer of the 600,000 square-foot town center along with RREEF. “We’re literally giving money away that night, while the retailers themselves will be offering giveaways of all kinds.”
Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the first 150 shoppers to register at Azar Jewelers gets a $20 Arboretum gift card to spend anywhere at the center. Meanwhile, many retailers will be offering free wine or champagne, free makeovers, informal spring fashion shows, free food, and discounts of up to 35% off that evening only. Participants include apparel, home, beauty, and specialty retailers.
Guests who register will also be entered to win a Journey diamond pendant from Azar Jewelers. No purchase necessary. For every receipt brought in from any store that evening, shoppers earn an extra entry form (the receipt can be of any amount). The winner of the pendant will be announced at Pinstripes during a complimentary champagne toast and does not have to be present to win.
The Arboretum of South Barrington is a 600,000 square-foot retail town center in Chicago’s affluent northwest suburbs that opened in September 2008. The open-air center is named for the lush treescapes and gardens, and for the large tree farm that formerly stood on the site. Among retailers at The Arboretum of South Barrington are three unique anchors, including LL.Bean’s first Midwest outdoor gear and apparel store; the country’s first Village Roadshow Gold Class Cinemas, a luxury cinema experience and new way to go to the movies; and Pinstripes, Chicago’s own bowling, bocce and bistro concept.
