SOUTH BARRINGTON, Ill. (July 10, 2008) – Gold Class Cinemas, LL Bean, Pinstripes Bowling & Bocce Bistro, Ann Taylor Loft, Chico’s, XSport Fitness, American Eagle Outfitters, American Chartered Bank, Noodles & Company Panera Bread, and Anna Shea Chocolates & Lounge are confirmed to be among 30 retailers participating in a free job fair hosted by The Arboretum of South Barrington, Monday, July 21 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Chicago Marriott Northwest in Hoffman Estates. The hotel is located at 4800 Hoffman Blvd, Hoffman Estates, IL 60192, just west of the shopping center on Higgins Road. Job seekers are invited to proceed directly to Prairie Stone Rooms III and IV.
A bright spot in a weakening job market, The Arboretum of South Barrington will be able to provide opportunities for about 1,000 new employees by the time the 600,000-square-foot lifestyle center opens this fall. The Arboretum has already had 550 development-related jobs on the payroll, and is expected to have an economic impact in the area exceeding $300 million in the first year of operation alone.
According to Michael Jaffe, principal of The Jaffe Companies, which owns and develops the center, job opportunities range from part-time entry level to management in a range of categories. “Job seekers have the chance to meet some of the top retailers and restaurateurs in the country at this fair,” he says. For example, Gold Class Cinemas -- a concierge-based luxury cinema experience -- is opening its first US location at The Arboretum; and LL Bean, the Maine-based outdoor gear and apparel store, is opening its first Midwest store here.
“We’re pleased to be able to offer the community an event like this, especially during such tough times. Right now, I'm not aware of any other company in the entire metro area of 8 million that can fill over 1,000 jobs at once. So, I'd say this is the place to be for jump-starting a new career. And the event is free, which not all job fairs are," says Mr. Jaffe. He recommends job seekers come dressed in business casual attire with resumes in hand.

The Arboretum of South Barrington is a 600,000 square-foot lifestyle center under development in Chicago’s affluent northwest suburbs, with completion scheduled for fall 2008. The open-air center, which broke ground in May 2007, is named for the lush treescapes and gardens of its landscape, and for the large tree farm that formerly stood on the site. Among retailers at The Arboretum of South Barrington are three unique anchors, including the country’s first Village Road Show Gold Class Cinemas, a luxury cinema experience and the new way to go to the movies; LL Bean’s first Midwest outdoor gear and apparel store; and Pinstripes, Chicago’s own bowling, bocce and bistro concept. An upscale mix of fashion apparel brands, home furnishings, restaurants and other retailers are also planned -- all less than a mile from the four-way interchange at I-90 ( the region’s major transportation artery), at the highly coveted intersection of Illinois Routes 59 and 72. Other retailers signed include Arhaus, Anna Shea Chocolates & Lounge, Chico’s, Coldwater Creek, Jos. A. Bank, Ann Taylor Loft, Victoria’s Secret, DSW, Panera Bread, and Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.
The Jaffe Companies, owner and developer of The Arboretum of South Barrington, has been developing successful shopping centers and mixed-use projects for nearly two decades across the US, primarily in the Midwest. Firm principal Michael Jaffe has been involved in several notable projects, including Huebner Oaks Center, a 400,000-square-foot lifestyle center in San Antonio, Texas; Geneva Commons, a 450,000-square-foot lifestyle center in Geneva, Ill; and Orchard Grove Shopping Center in Aurora, Ill.
